USASF Rule Changes for 2012-2013 Season

On March 28, 2012, the USASF released several new rule changes that will have a huge impact on the upcoming season as well as tryouts and team placements. Here is a quick summary of the rule changes:

UNIFORM:
  • Skirts must completely cover briefs (doesn't matter if they are boy shorts) and must be a minimum of 1" past briefs. If uniform bottoms are shorts, they must have a 2" inseam
  • Mid-driff or cropped tops are only allowed for Senior level teams and can't be more than 10" of stomach showing. Tops must have at least 1 strap holding it up, no tube tops.
  • Make-Up: Face/eyelid rhinestones are no longer allowed. Makeup should be not be over glitzy. (Makeup rules will not be enforced until the 2013-14 season)
  • Bows should not be excessive in size-generally no more than 3" in width. They should not cover the eyelid as to pose a safety risk.
TUMBLING:
  • Standing fulls and standing double fulls are no longer allowed.
  • Double fulls can only be in running tumbling and following a backhandspring.
  • Consecutive bounding, twisting skills not allowed.
AGE GRID:
  • All open team members must be a minimum of 17 years old
  • No Mini 3 division anymore
  • Restrictions on Youth 5 -No kick doubles in baskets, No tumbling double fulls, No twisting braced flips.
  • Top age for Youth teams is now 12 instead of 11
  • No longer separate Junior Coed 3 and 4 from counterpart All Girl teams
  • Minimum age for senior teams, level 1-4 =10 years old. Level 5=12
